Evaluation: In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Our media product does follow some form and conventions of the genre of war romance. Our film follows the relationship between a man and woman and also the stereotypical role of the man being at war. One difference our film has in this is that the film follows the point of view of the woman which is quite controversial as women were seen as less independent.

Our film also portrays what seems to be a middle class woman as being well presented and well kept. One difference with our film is that the mise-en-scene appears tired as it has not been kept appropriately. This is a signifier that the class boundaries are beginning to become blurred which is anchorage to reality. The theme of reality isn't addressed often in other films set in the 1940's, an example of this is Atonement.
